  • Housing offices cut by the Lib Dem / tory coalition http://www.ourhomesoursay.com
  • Labour is the biggest political party in Lambeth. All three MPs are Labour, and Labour is the largest party on Lambeth Council, with 29 seats. However, Lambeth is run by a coalition of the two minority Liberal and Tory parties, with Labour currently forming the official opposition.

Labour's objective is to represent the ordinary people of Lambeth. Our councillors work hard to get the best deal for residents and make sure the Council listens to their views.

The Tory-Liberal Council is deeply unpopular. They have raised Council Tax by 30%, the biggest increase ever, while at the same time cutting back services by a massive £23 million. All the money raised from the tax hike and the cuts has been thrown into a £40 million black hole which the Tories and Liberals created after they took control in May 2002. Their waste, incompetence and broken promises have thrown the Council into crisis. Now they've landed Lambeth residents with a record-breaking tax hike to pay for their mistakes. And they ditched their election pledge to hold a referendum first.

Lambeth's services are getting worse and the Council Tax is increasing faster than ever before. Labour stands up for the ordinary people of the Borough who have increasingly had enough of a Council which lets them down time and time again.
